American Bitcoin's Value Plummets Over 90% Amid Trump Leadership

American Bitcoin, a Bitcoin mining company owned by Hut 8, has experienced a staggering decline in value, losing about 92% since its reverse merger that allowed it to go public. In contrast, Bitcoin has only lost a quarter of its value during the same period.

The firm was formed through the strategic contribution of Hut 8’s ASIC fleet and is led by Eric Trump, who serves as chief strategy officer, and Donald Trump Jr., who acts as a senior adviser. Despite their leadership, American Bitcoin has reported substantial financial losses, including over $150 million in 2025 and an additional $138 million in the first half of 2026, largely due to the falling price of Bitcoin.

While the recent rebound in Bitcoin prices may alleviate some of these losses, the firm’s performance raises questions about the effectiveness of its management and strategy.
