Anthropic Secures $35 Billion Cloud Deal with Hut 8 and Nvidia Support

Anthropic has finalized a significant $35 billion cloud-computing agreement with Lambda, which is supported by Nvidia. This arrangement involves Hut 8, which is developing a new data center in Nueces County, Texas, where Nvidia will hold the lease.

The data center will be equipped with Nvidia chips, enabling Lambda to provide cloud services to Anthropic. While the financial terms of Lambda's payments to Nvidia remain undisclosed, the deal underscores Nvidia's expanding role in facilitating cloud infrastructure for AI companies.

This agreement is part of Anthropic’s strategy to secure substantial computing power amid rising demand for its AI products. Earlier this month, the company also entered a $45 billion deal with Nvidia-backed Nscale for additional capacity from a facility in West Virginia.

Hut 8 is concurrently constructing other data centers for Anthropic that will utilize Google's tensor processing units, showcasing a competitive landscape between Nvidia and Google in supporting AI infrastructure.

In July, Hut 8 revealed that an unnamed investment-grade customer had signed long-term leases for its Texas campus, valued at approximately $20 billion, which will be tailored around Nvidia technology.

Nvidia's increasing involvement in financing cloud providers like Lambda reflects its commitment to supporting the growth of AI infrastructure, although some of its financing programs have faced pauses recently.
