Aston Villa is set to launch its 2026/27 Champions League campaign with a match against Club Brugge on September 8 at the Jan Breydelstadion in Bruges. The game, scheduled for a 5:45 PM BST kick-off, signifies the start of a fresh European adventure for manager Unai Emery's squad.

Having secured their place in this season's competition by winning the Europa League final against SC Freiburg in May 2026 and finishing fourth in the Premier League, Villa faces a familiar opponent in Club Brugge. The two teams previously met in the 2024/25 Champions League round of 16, where Villa triumphed with a 4-1 aggregate score.

Club Brugge, making their eighth Champions League appearance in nine seasons, qualified directly for the league phase and reached the knockout phase playoffs last season. Emery has characterized this European campaign as a “new test” for his team.
