Aston Villa Secures Ibrahim Mbaye from PSG in €55 Million Transfer

Aston Villa has successfully completed a €55 million transfer for young winger Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain, marking a significant addition to their squad. The deal, finalized on August 28, sees Villa outmaneuver Chelsea, who had been interested in the 18-year-old talent.

Mbaye, who recently made headlines as the youngest African goalscorer in World Cup history, has been a standout player for PSG, making 42 appearances and contributing four goals and four assists since his debut in August 2024. His versatility allows him to play effectively on either flank, although he is primarily a right-sided winger.

The successful negotiation was facilitated by the strong relationship between Aston Villa chairman Nassef Sawiris and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, which helped expedite the transfer process. With limited first-team opportunities at PSG, Mbaye was keen on a move that would guarantee him more playing time.

This signing is part of a broader strategy at Villa Park, as the club is also set to bring in Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea, indicating a significant overhaul of their attacking lineup under manager Unai Emery.
