BTCPay Advises Merchants to Change Wallets After $1.6 Million Theft
BTCPay has urged Bitcoin merchants to take immediate action by replacing their wallets after hackers exploited a vulnerability that had been patched in August, leading to the theft of approximately $1.6 million. The organization highlighted that simply updating wallets will not remove access already gained by the attackers.
This warning comes in light of recent security breaches affecting cryptocurrency exchanges, emphasizing the ongoing risks associated with hot wallets. Merchants are advised to enhance their security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
