Crypto PACs Invest Over $24 Million in Ohio Senate Race

In September, Fairshake, a Super PAC supported by the crypto industry, transferred over $24 million to its affiliate, Defend American Jobs, which subsequently spent this amount in the Ohio Senate race. Approximately $18.6 million of this funding was directed towards supporting Jon Husted, the Republican incumbent, while $5.7 million was allocated to oppose Sherrod Brown, the Democratic candidate.

Defend American Jobs has continued its financial involvement into October, further opposing Brown and supporting Husted, as well as targeting independent candidate Dan Osborn in the Nebraska Senate race. Brown has previously criticized the crypto industry, labeling it as a collection of "speculative products run by reckless companies" that jeopardize American investments.

Husted, on the other hand, has been a strong advocate for the Clarity Act, which aims to establish comprehensive regulations for cryptocurrency and enhance consumer protections. In total, Defend American Jobs has spent over $46 million in this election cycle, surpassing its previous expenditure of $40 million in support of Bernie Moreno in 2024.

Additionally, the Digital Freedom Fund, largely funded by the Winklevoss Capital Fund, has contributed $5.9 million to the Ohio Senate race, further supporting Husted and opposing Brown.
