Google Introduces Googlebook: A New AI-Driven Laptop Platform Merging Android and ChromeOS

Google has officially launched the Googlebook platform, a new operating system that merges Android with ChromeOS, announced during “The Android Show: I/O Edition” on May 12, 2026. This innovative platform aims to redefine the premium laptop market, with pre-orders starting on September 21, 2026, and the first devices expected to ship on October 4, 2026.

The Googlebook line, built in collaboration with major hardware partners including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, is designed to compete directly with Apple’s MacBook lineup. The new operating system, codenamed Aluminium OS, integrates deeply with Android smartphones and leverages Google’s Gemini AI framework to enhance user experience.
