Manus 2.0 Launches Cascade Architecture, Reducing AI Agent Costs by 32%

Manus, the AI agent platform developed by Singapore-based Butterfly Effect Pte. Ltd., launched Manus 2.0 on September 28, introducing a complete redesign of its agent architecture along with two new product offerings. The highlight of this update is the Cascade architecture, a framework that optimizes resource allocation for AI agents.

Internal testing of Cascade revealed impressive results: a 23.2% reduction in token consumption, a 28.2% increase in task completion speed, and a 32% decrease in operational costs compared to its predecessor. This efficiency gain is particularly appealing for Manus, which aims to bolster its financial standing as it seeks to raise $500 million at a target valuation of around $4 billion.

In addition to the Cascade architecture, Manus 2.0 includes an upgraded version of its professional desktop application, now called Manus Studio, designed for power users who need to build and deploy AI agents at scale. The update integrates the Cascade architecture into the desktop environment, ensuring that the same efficiency gains apply to locally managed workflows.

Another significant addition is Cue, a standalone personal agent app that allows consumers to create AI agents using their own email addresses, phone numbers, and digital wallets. Currently, Cue is available through an invite-only early access program.

Manus's journey to this launch has been marked by notable events, including an attempted acquisition by Meta in December 2025, which faced regulatory hurdles and ultimately stalled, leaving Manus to operate independently. The company has seen rapid growth, with revenue increasing from approximately $90 million in August 2025 to around $125 million by December 2025.
