Meta Introduces Mail Tab for Muse AI Agent to Enhance Email Management

Meta is adding a dedicated Mail tab to Muse, its personal AI agent, indicating that the company views email management as a central aspect of its AI assistant strategy. This new feature will provide Muse with a separate mailbox interface designed specifically for AI agent communication, distinct from the existing multi-tab layout that includes Chat, Feed, Ideas, Goals, and Library sections.

Muse, which launched in the US on September 8, 2026, was designed with email integration from the start. It connects to users’ email accounts, including Gmail, and offers granular permission controls, allowing users to choose whether Muse has read-only access or the ability to send messages on their behalf. The emergence of third-party services like AgentMail, which enables users to create dedicated email addresses for Muse, suggests a growing demand for this functionality.

The introduction of a native Mail tab highlights Meta's recognition of this trend. Muse operates under a pricing structure that includes a free tier and subscription options priced at $20 per month and $100 per month for heavy users, reflecting Meta's belief that effective email management will attract users.

Security is a key focus for Muse, which operates within what Meta describes as the Muse Secure VM, a dedicated virtual machine that isolates the agent’s operations. This setup includes audit trails and permission approval mechanisms, allowing users to monitor Muse's actions and maintain control over its capabilities.

The multi-tab interface suggests that Meta is developing Muse into a more comprehensive operating system for personal productivity rather than merely a chatbot. The pricing strategy aligns Muse with other premium AI tools, targeting users who require robust email management capabilities.
