Meta's Muse AI Shopping Agent Launches with Stripe Integration

Meta has officially launched its Muse AI shopping agent on September 8, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the company's AI strategy. Muse is designed to act as a digital assistant, capable of browsing the web, filling out forms, and completing purchases on behalf of users within a secure virtual environment known as the Muse Secure VM.

The app has gained rapid popularity, topping the U.S. free iOS App Store and Google Play’s productivity category, even surpassing OpenAI's ChatGPT in app-store rankings. This surge in interest signals a potential shift in the competitive landscape of AI applications.

Muse operates by connecting to various services, such as email and calendars, and requires explicit user approval for sensitive actions, ensuring a layer of security. Initially, financial transactions are routed through Stripe’s Link service, utilizing one-time-use virtual cards for enhanced buyer protection. Future plans include support for Shopify’s Shop Pay, expanding its transaction capabilities.
