Swiss Bitcoin Pay, a non-custodial bitcoin payment processor based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, has announced a temporary shutdown of its servers following a suspected data breach. The company indicated that a malicious user may have gained access to its internal systems, potentially exposing customer email addresses, bitcoin addresses, IBANs, transaction history, and hashed passwords.

In a statement, Swiss Bitcoin Pay reassured its users that their funds are safe and that any amounts owed will be fully returned. The firm is currently investigating the breach and working to secure its infrastructure, although it has not provided a timeline for when services will resume.

This incident is part of a troubling trend in the cryptocurrency sector, where several firms have recently reported data breaches. For instance, Revolut disclosed that customer identification documents were improperly accessed, while Trezor warned of phishing attacks linked to a breach at a third-party marketing platform.
