VerifiedX Secures $15 Million to Enhance Institutional Bitcoin Infrastructure

VerifiedX, a financial operating system for Bitcoin and intelligent assets, has announced the launch of a $15 million financing round to bolster its institutional Bitcoin distribution capabilities. The financing round has already attracted initial investors, although their identities and terms remain undisclosed.

Cantor Fitzgerald is acting as the investment banking partner for VerifiedX in this financing initiative. A portion of the capital raised will be used to enhance custody relationships with partners, including BitGo, a digital asset custodian listed on the New York Stock Exchange. BitGo will hold VerifiedX's Bitcoin-collateralized token, vBTC, and its counterpart on Base, vBTC.b.

As a qualified custodian, BitGo allows registered investment advisers to hold client assets in compliance with U.S. custody regulations. The financing will also support the listing of vBTC and VerifiedX's native token, VFX, on tier-one centralized exchanges, with announcements expected in the coming weeks.

Additionally, the funds will facilitate the development of borrow-and-lend programs, enabling holders to borrow against their Bitcoin or lend it out for returns without losing ownership or locking redemption rights. Brian May, a member of the VerifiedX Foundation, emphasized that vBTC represents a significant advancement in how institutions can utilize Bitcoin, allowing them to earn yield without the need to swap their holdings for IOUs.

Unlike traditional wrapped Bitcoin tokens, which require holders to deposit their Bitcoin with a custodian, vBTC allows users to maintain self-custodial ownership. When creating a vBTC token, the VerifiedX network generates a unique Bitcoin address for each token, ensuring that the Bitcoin remains within the ecosystem and is visible on Bitcoin's ledger.

Users can redeem their vBTC for native Bitcoin at any time and utilize it for various purposes, including payments, trading, and as collateral in lending scenarios. The vBTC.b token extends this functionality to applications on the Base network.
