CoinMarketCap Enhances Pro API with Real-World Asset Data

CoinMarketCap has announced an expansion of its Pro API, introducing a suite of seven real-world asset (RWA) endpoints. This update allows developers to access a comprehensive data source for tokenized versions of traditional financial instruments.

The newly added RWA endpoints encompass a range of assets, including tokenized equities, commodities, currencies, government securities, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and real estate. These endpoints are now available for use.

Each asset is identified through a stable identifier, covering the entire data lifecycle. The API includes an ID map and metadata endpoint for descriptive and company information, along with asset-list and quotes endpoints that provide aggregate tokenized price, market capitalization, and 24-hour trading volume. Additionally, market-pairs and issuer endpoints reveal the underlying on-chain tokens and the markets on which they trade.

CoinMarketCap's Pro API already offers extensive features, including real-time and historical crypto prices, centralized and decentralized exchange data, derivatives information, and proprietary indexes like the CoinMarketCap Fear & Greed Index. The platform also supports real-time WebSocket streaming and provides a Keyless Public API for developers.

Rush, CEO of CoinMarketCap, emphasized the importance of integrating real-world asset data into a single API, stating, “Developers should not have to stitch together a dozen providers to build a serious crypto product.” This expansion aligns with CoinMarketCap’s recent certification under ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27701, ensuring robust information security and privacy management.
