Google Introduces AI Voice Features for Gmail, Docs, and Keep

Google has unveiled significant enhancements to its productivity applications by introducing AI voice features for Gmail, Docs, and Keep. Announced during the I/O event, these updates are powered by Gemini AI and enable users to engage with their data using conversational commands.

The new features, which will first roll out to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers on Android and iOS in the US this summer, include:

• Gmail Live: Users can ask spoken questions about their inbox, receiving synthesized, context-aware answers. For example, instead of searching for specific emails, users can inquire directly about events related to their children.
• Docs Live: This feature allows users to create documents by simply stating their needs, with the AI pulling information from Gmail, Google Drive, and the open web.
• Google Keep: The updated voice mode can transform unstructured voice input into organized notes and lists.

Initially, these features will not be available to the two billion free Gmail users, as Google aims to ensure accuracy and effectiveness through a phased rollout. The decision to limit access to paid subscribers suggests a strategic approach to enhancing its AI offerings and potentially improving its competitive standing in the AI market.
