OpenAI to Launch Dots, Competing with Meta's Muse, at Dev Day 2026

OpenAI is gearing up to introduce Dots, its response to Meta's successful AI agent, Muse, during the Dev Day event scheduled for September 29, 2026. This new product aims to simulate human interaction while functioning autonomously on dedicated virtual machines, focusing heavily on emotional experience.

The announcement comes shortly after Meta's Muse, which launched on September 8, achieved remarkable success, surpassing 2.5 million downloads within just a few days. Muse operates on Meta's proprietary Muse Spark model, enabling it to handle complex tasks securely across various applications.

Dots will operate in its own sandboxed environment, allowing it to perform multiple tasks simultaneously without interfering with other applications. Users can expect personalization features, including customizable 3D avatars and autonomous management of messaging, calls, and emails. The agent's always-on capability distinguishes it from ChatGPT, as it proactively surfaces relevant information and actions.
