FBI Disrupts Hamas Crypto Fundraising, Seizes Over $560,000 in Donations

The FBI has taken significant action against Hamas by seizing more than $560,000 in cryptocurrency donations linked to the group's Al Qassam Brigades. This operation, announced by the Justice Department, involved a series of court-authorized seizures that traced the flow of digital assets intended for Hamas fundraising.

According to court documents, a group chat associated with Hamas directed supporters to a fundraising website and circulated various cryptocurrency addresses for donations. The FBI's Albuquerque Field Office led the operation, which was supported by counterterrorism and cyber units.

Investigators utilized information from multiple human sources to track and seize cryptocurrency on three separate occasions: March 25, June 25, and October 10, 2025. The operation also included gaining control of domains and servers, such as AlQassam.ps, which were used for recruitment and fundraising efforts.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro emphasized the importance of these seizures, stating, “These seizures deprive Hamas of resources it relies on to recruit and radicalize individuals online and finance barbaric attacks.” Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg reiterated the commitment to dismantling Hamas’s online networks and financial capabilities.

This operation marks a shift from merely tracing funds to actively intercepting them, demonstrating the FBI's dedication to countering terrorism financing through innovative law enforcement strategies.
