KuCoin Achieves ISO/IEC 42001 Certification for AI Management System

KuCoin has announced that it has received ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification for its Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS), marking a significant step in its commitment to responsible AI governance. This certification, which focuses on accountability, transparency, and human oversight, is the first international standard specifically designed for AI management systems.

The ISO/IEC 42001 certification applies to the governance of AI across various operations within KuCoin, including market surveillance, anti-money laundering, and fraud detection. The standard requires organizations to demonstrate transparency in AI deployment, establish clear lines of accountability, and commit to continuous improvement.

KuCoin's CEO, BC Wong, emphasized that the future of the industry hinges on building trust through responsible AI rather than merely advancing technology. He stated, “We believe the future of the industry will not be defined simply by more advanced AI, but by more trusted AI.”

This certification adds an AI governance layer to KuCoin’s existing security and operational framework, which already includes ISO/IEC 27001 for information security, SOC 2 Type II for operational controls, and ISO 22301 for business continuity. KuCoin serves over 45 million users globally and offers access to more than 1,500 digital assets.

Notably, KuCoin's certification follows Crypto.com, which was the first digital asset platform to achieve ISO/IEC 42001 certification earlier this year.
