Salesforce Integrates Anthropic's Claude into Slack with Claudeforce Partnership

Salesforce has officially integrated Anthropic's AI model, Claude, into its Slack platform, launching a new initiative called Claudeforce. This integration, unveiled on August 26, positions Claude as the default AI model for Slack, Agentforce, and other tools within Salesforce's ecosystem.

The partnership is backed by significant financial investment, with Salesforce holding an equity stake in Anthropic exceeding $300 million and planning to invest an additional $300 million in Anthropic tokens by 2026, totaling over $600 million in commitments.

Initially, Salesforce considered investing in OpenAI but shifted its focus to Anthropic after Microsoft's substantial investment in the latter. This strategic pivot has led to a series of integrations culminating in the Claudeforce launch.

Claudeforce goes beyond a simple chatbot upgrade, introducing the "Salesforce in Claude" plugin, which includes 37 prebuilt skills tailored for sales functions such as pipeline management and account research. This plugin is currently in pilot testing and is expected to enter open beta by September 2026.

One of the notable features of Claudeforce is the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which allows Claude to perform enterprise actions directly within Slack, enhancing user productivity without the need to switch applications. Salesforce reports that this implementation has already generated an annualized productivity gain of 8.1 million hours for its employees.
